Irving Resident Free Spay/Neuter, Microchip and Rabies Program FAQs
Q: Is the program available to anyone?
A: Participants must provide proof that they are an Irving resident and meet financial restrictions. Interested people must obtain a voucher and then contact a participating clinic to inquire and schedule an appointment.
If people ask what the financial restrictions are, you can tell them that when they sign the agreement to have services provided at the clinic, they will also be signing that they are unable to pay the fees at a traditional/private veterinary hospital.
Q: Where is the clinic located?
A: There are several clinics to choose from. Contact Texas Coalition for Animal Protection and/or Spay Neuter Network for information:

Q: Can I use a voucher for a feral cat?
A: No, contact Animal Services at (972) 721-2256 to get information about spay/neuter for feral cats.
Q: I have several animals. Can I get vouchers for all of them?
A: Irving has an ordinance that limits the number of animals per household to 4. Therefore, no more than 4 vouchers can be used by any one person or address. If you have more than 4 animals, the participating clinic may offer low cost options, and you can apply to obtain a multi-pet permit at Animal Services.
Q: Can I make copies of the voucher for my other pets or my neighbors?
A: No, the vouchers are uniquely identified with a number and that number may only be used one time.
Q: Does the voucher expire?
A: Yes, the voucher has an expiration date printed on the back and the voucher must be used by that date.
Q: If I decide not to use the voucher, can I give it to someone else?
A: Yes. The voucher can be used by any person who meets the residency and financial requirements of the program, but each voucher may only be used once.
Q: What if I lose my voucher or forget to bring it with me to my appointment?
A: You can contact Animal Services at (972) 721-2256 to request another voucher. The participating clinics MUST have the voucher in order to provide services under the program, so you’ll have to have it with you. Otherwise, you can ask the clinic about other low cost options available to you.
Q: My dog is 7 years old. My dog weighs 97 lbs. Is my pet eligible?
A: Animals over 5 years old and/or over 80 lbs are not eligible for the program. You can ask the participating clinic if they have any other low cost options. Irving Animal Services offers quarterly free rabies and microchipping events and you can call DFW Humane Society at (972) 721-7788 to see if they have any spay/neuter resources available for your pet.
