Blessed Addition to our Family
Sabo (formerly known as Chief) adopted by Laura on 04/16/2020
This was our first time adopting from a shelter and I was very weary what shelter behavior we would have to adjust to. Sabo, who I was told was in the shelter since August of 2019, has proved so many of my concerns wrong as he adjusted so well to home life from the very beginning. He almost instantly picked up housetraining and crate training (and I’m no professional trainer by any means), and loves to play with the toys we and the shelter provided to him. He’s a big cuddle bug for his momma and a great running buddy for his dad. There’s no doubt that there can be natural challenges when you have a dog in the adolescent stage (the teenage phase), such as the abundance of energy and the shelter warned us about this, but with research and patience, we have come this far and he continues to bring so much joy and laughter into our daily lives. I encourage prospective adopters to understand that what you see at the shelter is not always the animal’s true character – it could be even better! My Sabo came off as the energizer bunny upon initial adoption, but at home he could be the biggest lounger and has no problem playing by himself to stay occupied. Love my rescue doggo!
