Bentley is an 8-year-old Chihuahua/Pug mix(14lbs) who came to us from a neighboring shelter. He’s incredibly sweet, gets along well with other animals, and still has a lively, playful spirit for his age.
He enjoys snuggling up in a cozy bed of blankets but also loves spending time with people and staying engaged. Bentley strikes a great balance between calm and active — perfect for someone looking for a loving, well-rounded companion.

This 2-year-old sweetheart has been with us since early February, and he’s more than ready to track down his forever home! 🐾
Hunter is potty trained, super affectionate, and totally treat-motivated (he’s a snack connoisseur 🍖). He loves to splash around in the pool and would make the perfect sidekick for someone who enjoys a little sunshine and playtime.
He gets along great with female dogs and is a bit selective with males — a meet-and-greet is always a good idea. Cats, however, are not his thing.

We are OBSESSED with our black kitties here at DFW Humane Society, and they are ready to be yours all yours! Many of these babies were transferred to our shelter as a part of Best Friend’s “Partner Up Challege,” a nationwide initiative to connect shelters in need with rescues all over the US. When you adopt from us this month, you are helping us reach our goal of 50 adoptions and earn a $2,000 grant to support our shelter pets. So ADOPT ADOPT ADOPT! We will be having FREE ADOPTIONS starting tomorrow 4/18 and 4/19, so you won’t want to miss out!

He’s a 4-year-old bundle of affection who’s crate trained, loves to roll in the grass, splash in the pool, and soak up every bit of love he can get. Dawson is also great with kids and the perfect size — not too big, not too small, just right for couch cuddles and backyard play!
He’s good with cats and has done well with confident female dogs, but he’d thrive as the only dog in the home. He’s still working on potty training, but with patience and love, he’s coming along.
We know his perfect person (or family!) is out there — we just need your help reaching them.

Memphis Foster Mom Notes:

Memphis is sweet young pup learning the world around her, which makes fostering her so much fun. She is a good mix of cautious and curious. She is a bit cautious when meeting new people but warms up quickly. She is good with other friendly dogs her size and loves playing with her shelter buddies. She is also good with kids and cats.

She sits when rewarded with treats, is very smart and will easily learn commands with training. She seems to know the word “no” and feels sad when she disappoints her person. She is also a neat eater and water drinker. No clean up after this girl!

She enjoys car rides, walks (good on a leash), but loves playing in my backyard with her rope or tennis ball. She would do best in a home with a fenced yard since she doesn’t like to go to the bathroom while on a leash. No public display of poop for her.

She is crate trained and well behaved when left out in my home alone. I filled Kong toys with treats to keep her busy. She didn’t chew anything other than her toys and spent her time looking out the window. GOOD PUP!!

She startles at loud noises but recovers quickly. Memphis needs a human to help her explore and feel loved while she figures out her world. She is full of joy, fun, and love.

This 4-year-old royal wandered into a Target like the queen she is — and luckily, she was brought to us for a second chance at her happily ever after! 💖
Princess Peach is incredibly affectionate, potty trained, and has a low-to-medium energy level — perfect for someone who wants a sweet, calm companion with a little playful sparkle. She’s treat motivated, knows sit, lay down, and shake, and is not destructive in her kennel. A total lady!
She does well with male dogs but can be a bit assertive with females. Cats, however, are not part of her kingdom — she’d prefer a feline-free castle.

Amethyst is a 1-year-old sweetheart who’s been with us since November 22, 2024, and she’s ready to find the perfect match! If you’re looking for a dog who’s 100% affection, 100% play, and 100% personality… that’s 300% of reasons to meet Amethyst. 😉
This lovely lady is potty trained (according to her previous people), LOVES toys, and thinks splashing around in a kiddie pool is the height of luxury. 💦💎
She does great with male dogs and confident female dogs, but she’s not a fan of overly dominant or super submissive gals — she likes balance in her friendships!
Amethyst does have some separation anxiety, but she does really well when crated if left home alone. She’s super affectionate with her people, but due to some fearfulness, she’s not recommended for homes with young children.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to visit our pups and volunteers at Irving ISD’s Community Resource Fair! The sunshine and breeze had the dogs loving their day out of the shelter, and everyone who visited our table left with resources about how to access our Pet Food Pantry and info on adopting a shelter pet.

If you know, you know—some of the best dogs come with a little sass and a whole lot of personality. Meet Robert and Goofy, two pint-sized pups with big opinions and even bigger hearts, just waiting for the right human to earn their trust and love. 🐾💕

Both boys are around 2 years old and were recently pulled from separate shelters last week.
🐶 Robert is a Chiweenie mix with a strong side-eye game with a quirky charm.
🐶 Goofy is a Shih Tzu mix who’s full of love, sass, and a soft spot for snacks.

These guys need a special kind of person—someone patient, experienced with spicy small dogs, and willing to let them open up at their own pace. 💛 We recommend no young kids (older teens and up are okay), and we think they'd do alright with other respectful animals.

With time, trust, and lots of treats, we know these little firecrackers will turn into loyal companions. 💥

He made those windows sparkle like freshly cleaned litter boxes and didn’t paws once. Huge thanks to our surprise helper of the day—you really cleaned up the competition for best volunteer cameo!

Meet Sock and Lulu, two beautiful bicolor senior cats who are each still holding out hope for a cozy, loving home to call their own. 💛

Sock is a 14-year-old big girl with a heart just as big. She came to us from a shelter in South Texas and has been with us since early February.
Lulu is a 13-year-old darling, recently pulled from a local shelter earlier this month.

Both girls are incredibly sweet and gentle souls who deserve a peaceful place to spend their golden years. 🛏️💖 They don’t seem fazed by other cats and would likely do well in a calm, quiet home with someone ready to give them the love and comfort they’ve been missing.

Happy National Sibling Day! 🤗 Today, we’re shining a light on Devon & Dawson, two of our longest residents who have been waiting since January 2023 for their forever families. 🏡

We are overjoyed to share that Duke, our sweet senior boy who had been with us since December, has officially found his loving forever home! 💙 After months of waiting, Duke’s journey took a beautiful turn thanks to one of our incredible volunteers who spent weekends fostering him, showering him with love, and writing the most thoughtful notes to help potential adopters get to know his gentle soul.

It’s this kind of dedication that truly changes lives—not just for the animals, but for the families lucky enough to welcome them home. We’re so grateful for the hard work, heart, and time our volunteers give so selflessly, and for the amazing adopters they help guide to our animals.

Here’s to Duke and the next happy chapter of his life! 🐶🏡💕

Happy Tuesday! We are pumped to start the week off with an adoptee update on our feline friend, Byron, who is living his best life! His adopter, who works at our PetSmart Partner Store, gave him the perfect forever home where he met his poodle brother. The two spend the entire day playing and napping. We couldn't be happier for this sweet family!
