Clear the Shelters

August 1, 2020

DFW Humane Society (DFWHS) is thrilled to be teaming up with NBC and Telemundo stations and animal shelters across the country for Clear the Shelters August 25-29!

The Clear the Shelters adoption event will be a bit different this year; however, the goal is the same: clear our shelter of all pets by the end of day on Saturday, August 29.

To help individuals and communities continue to practice safe social distancing measures, this year’s adoption event will span an entire week. From August 25-29, adoption fees for all available pets will be waived.

For the health and safety of Irving Animal Care Campus (IACC) staff and visitors, we will be limiting public access to the IACC and following up-to-date guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Following these guidelines will change the way you meet and adopt a pet but it will still be an easy process.

Follow These 4 Steps to Adopt

  1. View adoptable animals online at DFW Humane Society or Irving Animal Services (IAS).
  2. Pick two animals you would like to meet prior to visiting IACC.
  3. Call either DFWHS or IAS when you arrive at IACC to be added to the service waitlist. Individuals are asked to wait in their vehicles.
  4. Meet your select animals. An IACC staff member will call when its time to meet.

Pets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. In the event two individuals are interested in the same pet, staff will inform the second person on the waitlist if the pet is in the process of being adopted.
